Democratic Candidates

Amendment One to the West Virginia Constitution ...

"Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects the right to abortion or requires the funding of abortion."

The Supreme Court has ruled that states can regulate and/or prohibit abortions once a fetus reaches the point

of viability. West Virginia is one of 43 states that ban abortion later than 22 weeks. Currently, there is no language

protecting the life of the woman or considering rape or incest. The next step in this amendment is a law prohibiting

WV funding for Planned Parenthood. Who suffers from this move? People who can't afford health care!

This amendment is so extreme that there are no protections for women in case of rape or

incest or the life of the mother.

Please, vote NO on Amendment One!

Amendment Two to the West Virginia Constitution ...

The proposed “Judicial Budget Oversight Amendment,” would shift judicial spending oversight to lawmakers. Currently, the judiciary controls its own budget. Referring to the reports of spending on renovation and office furnishings in the chambers of supreme court justices ($3.7 million), there has been a demand among the voters for fiscal responsibility. We support the shifting of budget oversights to the lawmakers.

Please, vote YES on Amendment Two.
